design philosophy

Designing and constructing clothing is my most rewarding and challenging creative outlet.  I'm drawn in by the endless possibilities of what fabric can become.  All of the different colors and patterns and trims are an endless source of inspiration.  One of the dreams of my childhood was to be able to wear a beautiful dress everyday and that's what I want to give to others through my designs.  Whether it is actually a dress or a blouse or jacket I strive to create clothes that are womanly and feminine and can be worn to the grocery store, dressed up for a party, or for a walk in the park.

The most challenging and exciting elements in the process of creating a garment for me are in the construction and taking ordinary and simple lines and making them something special.  I like to use natural fibers, I find them generally more cooperative to work with and comfortable to wear.  I think an essential element of design is in the details and embellishments.  I don't strive to create an entirely new silhouette.  I love classic lines that can be enhanced and made new and interesting with a ruffle or tuck or perhaps embroidery.

I get inspiration from looking back at designs and techniques used when dressmaking was approached with more care.  Everyone must wear something. I want to make that something beautiful to look at and make the wearer feel special and stylish.

Design Statement

My target customer is women 20-35.  Semi-professional or stay at home mothers.  I design beautiful clothes for women using natural fibers and soft colors.  I add embellishments and details that take simple clothes and make them unique.  My clothes are practical and can be dressed up or down so they can be worn virtually anywhere.  Women wearing my design will feel beautiful and light and feminine.
